Domestic kitchen budgets are facing a localized pinch as live chicken and egg prices registered an upward shift in wholesale markets today. The national average for live broiler chicken climbed toward Rs. 310-325 per kilogram, while a dozen farm eggs hovered close to Rs. 294 across major supply chains.

Poultry association representatives attribute the price hike to a combination of rising international poultry feed component costs (such as soybean meal) and increased transport logistics variables. While the recent fuel price cuts are expected to offer transportation relief next week, the immediate supply-side strains keep the poultry market relatively tight for consumers.
